An elective class turned Gala practice
| An elective class turned Gala practice |

Early this morning, Sheng briefed the scholars on pole dancing. A common misconception of this was that it was exclusively for strip dancers. However, Sheng looks at it as a sport since it tones muscles aside from it being a good exercise. She twirled around the pole and impressed the rest. Unfortunately, the Singing Comedian had a minor injury which suspended the class temporarily. She was given proper medications but was advised to discontinue with the activity. The scholars moved to the house and went about their facial exercises to ready themselves for singing class. All sang with the musical arrangement for the first time and they groped for the right melody.
Apple went first and Teacher Monet was worried on how she juts her head forward every time she
sings. Bea also had the same problem since she juts her jaw in a distracting way. The Voice Mentor was pleased with Liezel’s performance however she has yet to go all out and let everything go.
Bugoy lacked confidence in performing and Teacher Monet reminded him of going through a series of auditions to get there. Bunny had to supply more air with her high note song while Jet had to control his fluttering eyelids.
Everyone had to keep eye contact with the Voice Mentor but Laarni failed to do so. She closed her eyes several times but she wasn’t fooling anybody according to Teacher Monet. The scholar couldn’t help but break down with the critique. The Voice Coach comforted her and gave her a reminder to sing with sincerity and with her eyes open in order to tell the story to her audience.
Miguel, Chivas and Van had trouble with incorporating too many technical aspects such as acting and voice trembling to prolong the note. To the three, Teacher Monet advised them to remove all technicalities and sing with sincerity and passion.
Hansen on the other hand was a bit distracted and conscious with himself. Teacher Monet then had his close friends Cris and Bugoy stand by for him to connect with and keep him confident. The voice mentor advised him to love his voice and fear not of losing poise in front of the people. Though Ross had flats and other minor mistakes, he still continued with his song and delivered decently. The voice coach pointed out that if they sang with flats, they should still proceed with their performance.
With all the lessons and advises given to them, will the scholars be able to incorporate these in their first ever Gala night? Keep track of your talented crew and watch Uberture for exciting updates!

Pirated CDs in exchange for Chivas and Bunny’s anniversary

One Voice went first and committed mistakes before getting the correct strategy. They got two CDs in though. The Pupilars went next and the group had trouble when it came to Chivas transferring the CD to Liezel. The team lost to One Voice and Chivas blames himself for it. But the worst was yet to come for One Voice had to let go of one of their members for the orgs to even up on members. Since Bunny and Chivas were husband and wife, the team gave the decision to choose to Bunny. She then chose to be part of the Pupilars. As much as he wanted to be with his wife, Chivas became teary-eyed on how to go about his dilemma. How can Chivas ignore Bunny now that she’s a part of their group? Meanwhile, Uber Da Tops today boasted of a talent special where the scholars exhibited special skills aside from singing. Fifth spot went to Cris for her talent in drawing. In the Banner-making project of the scholars, Cris sketched a cartoon image of her fellow orgmates. When Teacher Monet tasked them to do a body stamp on the banners, Cris was a bit radical and wanted theirs to have that extra spice so she and Sheng tried to get stamps of “special” body parts. Top Four was the extra talent of the girls in wearing their swimwear. As they waded in the Jacuzzi, they discussed amongst themselves who were the guy heartthrobs inside the Academy. Top Three was a belly dancing lesson from Sheng. The Singing Comedian taught Cris how to execute the dance properly. Since the Interior Designer couldn’t get the groove, Apple, who joined the group, helped her move her hips. Seeing the fun the girls were having Bunny also asked for belly dancing lessons as well. Top Two is the guys’ recording with Teacher Monet. Christian proved that not only can he sing Michael Jackson songs but rock pieces as well. Chivas and Iñaki both showed off their romantic side and tried to impressed their teacher. Top One highlighted the peculiar talents of the scholars, first of which was finding their fellow scholars’ most ticklish spot on their body. Van was the first target but when Cris admitted to being ticklish, the scholars ganged up on her and tickled her to death. Next, was a spitting contest between Cris and Hans. The two asked Liezel to judge who spits the farthest. And lastly, was Iñaki’s robotic imitation of Seems like the scholars’ are all meshing well with one another…but during a Jacuzzi session Apple mentioned that Laarni is getting a bit distant from the other members of One Voice. How will Laarni’s org settle their issues with her? Find out later on the primetime edition of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2! |
Fast-break lessons and Direk Joey’s impressions

The class was divided into three groups and Ross’ group was up first. Ross was able to sing a few verses but soon buckled as he forgot the lyrics. Direk Joey was dismayed and called it a disaster. Van and Jet had the same problem the former had. To this, the renowned director reminded them that it wasn’t a question of memorizing but rather, knowing how to deliver and incorporating the melody. Bugoy had his turn and their mentor was plainly impressed. Direk Joey was amazed at how sharp The next group was up with a classic, “You and I”. Iñaki like Ross had some disaster zones as he groped for the lyrics. Hansen didn’t miss a melody while Chivas got nervous and clammed up. To Miguel, the director said that he and Bugoy were the most pleasant so far. But when Liezel pitched her interpretation, the director was wowed and couldn’t say more. Though Laarni forgot the lyrics totally, she got it in the next try and was complimented by Direk Joey.
In the end some were satisfied with their performances while some were motivated to work on their nervousness on stage. All this were crucial for Saturday but one thing more important than this was for them to attack the song based on their personality. Will they put this lesson to heart and be able to incorporate their personality in their Gala Night pieces? Stay tuned to Uberture for the latest updates! |
Teacher Kitchy’s voice care tips

Some of Teacher Kitchy’s do’s as a singer was to drink tons of water to keep their throats hydrated. Another crucial advice from the mentor was to get adequate vocal rest, staying in tip-top shape and taking vitamins. Also as soon as the scholars get up in the morning, they must warm-up their voices. Correct posture is very important too so they will be able to sing loud and clear. Teacher Kitchy’s advice to having a dry mouth was to chew candy. If sinusitis occurs, saline water is the best cure for it. For the gala night, Teacher Kitchy strictly told the scholars to avoid excessive talking and screaming at all cost in order to produce an optimum performance. As for the Don’ts of the trade, drinking alcohol and smoking is a definite no-no. Alcohol is a diuretic which would dehydrate them. Also, a don’t is whispering and whistling since it scratches the throat. Another don’t that caused various reactions from the scholars was to flush it down phlem with water instead of spitting it out. After the long list, the scholars vocalized with Teacher Kitchy. Each had the chance to practice their number, with the Voice Mentor correcting them. All were constantly advised to relax their muscles to deliver their song with pizzaz. With all these constant coaching, will the scholars be able to maximize their talent and perform their piece with flair? Keep posted on the latest developments in the Academy with Billy Crawford on Uberture! |

Passing pirated CD’s with a beat is today’s recess game. Each scholar had to pass a CD to their orgmates using a straw while producing a beat with the use of different body parts. The last person who receives the CD would have to place it on a steel rod for it to count as a point. Unknown to One Voice, the Pupilars had additional instructions from Teacher Monet. The org must win in today’s game for Chivas and Bunny to have a wonderful wedding anniversary tomorrow. However, should they lose Chivas won’t be able to go all out romantic towards his wife.
In order for the scholars to capture the essence of a song, Direk Joey had them memorize a classic in 30 minutes. After which, they would perform this in front of the whole class without the lyrics sheet plus their own interpretation of the song. Direk Joey and the rest would give them feedbacks on their presentation.
his musical memory was. Christian was able to pick up the song as well and both were applauded by the high standard director.
The final batch had Bea as their starter. The Performance Director pointed out that she got the melody but she lacked focus. Sheng and Bunny also impressed the director and was applauded by their classmates. Cris connected with the audience while Apple enjoyed herself as she performed.
The morning session with Teacher Kitchy was packed with tips on caring for th scholars’ voices. It was necessary for the scholars as future pro singers to monitor their vocal hygiene.
