Scholars make banners through “legwork”
June 18, 2008 1:06 AM

Teacher Monet gave the Scholars a banner making activity. The two organizations were tasked to create a banner that will represent their respective teams. Aside from being a test of creativity, Teacher Monet’s goal in this activity is to refresh the real objectives why the Scholars are inside the Academy. He wanted both teams to be constantly reminded of these objectives every time they see their masterpieces hanging on their corresponding tambayans.

In terms of creativity, Pupilars had the edge over One Voice since the Singing Interior Designer Cris is in their team. Being artistically inclined, Cris took the honor of drawing all their faces on the banner.

After spending hours of being pre-occupied with the banner making activity that all of them seemed to enjoy, Teacher Monet gave an additional instruction to make the activity more interesting. Given the last 30 minutes to finish their banners, both teams were instructed to finish it using their bare feet. The task wasn’t really as easy as it seemed, and after the task, the teams couldn’t help but be thankful that they were given arms to use. Some Scholars displayed great amount of talent using their hands, but one scholar did better using a foot.

On the other side of the room, murmurs and whispers were filling the air once again. One Voice team Scholars had a night of heart to heart discussion, but it seemed that their consolidation exercise that was attended by Teacher Monet didn’t actually end all the unspoken wars within the team. Little do some Scholars from One Voice org know that behind their backs, there are still voices that could be heard playing out of tune.

One Voice organization had been on the losing end for many times, and one probable reason for these defeats is lack of the true essence of teamwork in their group. Who is who? What is actually breaking them apart? Stay tuned on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 and find the answers.

The Scholars’ First Day of School

The Scholars’ First Day of School
June 18, 2008 1:00 AM
An unexpected sermon from Teacher Monet greeted the Scholars good morning. The said coach was very much disappointed with the team because of what they did on the first day.

Their teacher was already in the room while all of them are in a siesta having breakfast on the dining area. Teacher Monet pushed his authority on this issue as he drew the line between play time and school time. The Scholars accepted the sermon with great humility, which brought about the team leaders’ sudden decision to gather up their groups and meet them to come up with possible adjustments on their parts so that they won’t be repeating the same mistake again.

After being enlightened with Teacher Monet’s point, the Scholars proceeded with their classes. First, they met their Voice Coach, Teacher Kitchy. She introduced to the Scholars the parts of the body being used in singing, and then elaborated its corresponding use. Aside from that, she also taught her class some basic forms of relaxation that will be vital to singing based on Mc Closky’s Voice Technique.

As for their performance class, Direk Joey’s goal is to discover the personalities of each Scholar and help him or her to develop it and make it evident on stage every time he or she performs. In line with this, he started the class with a little getting-to-know each other activity by asking questions related to the Scholars’ decision to be a part of the Academy. Bea got a little emotional on the topic as she brought up her parents’ disapproval on her decision. Direk Joey consoled her with some words to ponder, highlighting that her parents just wanted the best for her.

For recess, the Scholars had a game called Drum ‘a’ Roll, which unfortunately caused a team conflict in One Voice org. Some of the team members find the newbie Jet arrogant and dominant, things that actually annoyed them and hurt some of them at one point. Because of the said team conflict, the team leader Ross decided to call a meeting at the middle of the night to finally settle the unspoken battle once and for all. Teacher Monet was present on the said consolidation. The problem wasn’t only with Jet, there was also a minor concern with Laarni that Apple was longing to bring up. The problem was with Laarni’s unnecessary adlibs that often distract others when singing as a group.

All the concerns were laid on the table, and all of them slept after settling all the issues. Teacher Monet was there when the concerned parties made up, but did the late-night activity really settled all the issues or did it only get worse? Find out more on Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

The scholars evaluate their performances

The scholars evaluate their performances
June 17, 2008 2:16 PM
Gala Night is only a few days away and the scholars are yet again to perform on stage. To better execute their presentations, it was crucial for them to see what areas need developments and what should be highlighted. Teacher Kitchy then showed the scholars their Dream Night performances and subjected it to evaluation.
The Voice Coach once again emphasized muscle relaxation. She saw this in Apple’s and Christian’s presentation among others. Though Apple shed tears during the Dream Night, she still went ahead and gave a remarkable performance. Her voice was still relaxed enabling the muscles to function properly. Christian’s song and dance number was quite unique from the rest. Teacher Kitchy pointed out that the bobbing of his head actually helped relax his neck muscles and had him deliver a good presentation.

Liezel on the other hand was acknowledged for her musicality. However, the stress in her voice was also evident. The scholar herself noticed how her forehead scrunched up when she sang and decided to avoid this habit.

Bunny felt a little discomfort as she sang her number again. The scholar mom had a powerful song which required deep breathing and much more air supply. Teacher Kitchy then suggested her to practice deep breathing and then belting it out.

The singing bunch was divided into their organizations to practice their performances. Teacher Anna coached the Pupilars while Teacher Kitchy tutored One Voice. Bugoy, who belonged to Team Pupilars, commented that he was nervous with singing on stage. Teacher Anna advised him to get used to it. Besides, the Farmer’s Son had a nice voice though he was a bit tense.

With two excellent coaches challenging the scholars relentlessly, who would apply these teachings and give an outstanding performance? Catch the latest developments of the 16 dreamers on Uberture with Billy Crawford!
