Kuya connives with Bianca

Kuya connives with Bianca
May 13, 2008 7:36 PM

On Uber today the teens and guardians paired off for a Dance-Dance Revolution showdown. Mommy Minda and Alex managed to set the bar high despite the guardian’s little knowledge of the game. The groovy mommy made up for this by showing off her dancing skills and high energy level. Next was Mommy Carina and Beauty who paled in comparison to the previous pair. Nan and Mommy My Love were a tad luckier than the rest by picking a slow song on their turn. Will this make the pair from Davao today’s Dance-Dance Revo champs?

Well, while the housemates were enjoying their game, Kuya let PBB host Bianca in to wreak havoc on the now spotless rooms of his abode. The big man of the house has decided to test the housemates’ patience and house cleaning skills by conniving with the ex-celebrity housemate who doused the floors with baby powder, rearranged things and turned over blankets and pillows. After a tiring training and game, how will the teens react to this mess?

Aside from Kuya’s new test of patience, the housemates are feeling the toll of their military training, which started very early yesterday. Everyone had to follow the orders of the officers from the Philippine Air Force, who will be training them about island survival till the end of the week. The first lesson the teens learned was how to brush their teeth using a twig. They were also taught time management, food preservation and cleanliness. However, Priscilla and Shy are having difficulty coping with their new weekly task. The Deaf Dreamer is thinking of a voluntary exit while Shy is really decided to leave Kuya’s house. Could this be the reason why Shy has been missing since this morning?

Catch Shy’s tearful confession to Kuya and more stories in tonight’s episode of PBB Teen Edition Plus on primetime.

Watch Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus tonight after Lobo for Andi’s first few hours of bonding with the teen housemates. Keep those votes coming in for the teen housemate you want to save from this week’s eviction. Help them out by voting online or text BB (name of housemate) and send it to 2331 (for Globe, Sun and TM subscribers) or 231 for (Smart and Talk N Text subscribers). Kuyanatics in UAE may also now vote by texting BB (name of housemate) and sending it to 4200 (for Etisalat subscribers).

On Primetime: Shy falls out of the ranks

On Primetime: Shy falls out of the ranks
May 13, 2008 10:53 PM

The teens were startled into waking up with an ear-splitting reveille, signifying the beginning of their military exercises. The 505th Search and Rescue Squad of the Philippine Air Force led by Capt. Cecilia Bernabe were invited in the house to help prep the teens for their upcoming big island adventure. Teamwork, camaraderie and discipline, among other important values, will be taught to them. There was no room for a wimpy attitude, and the officers soon put a stop to over-sensitive aches and pains. Neither was there space for smart-alecky remarks, not even Shy’s arrogant snubbing of the officer’s authority. During the physical training, Nikki complained that she had trouble breathing. After a quick assessment, the officers dismissed her complaints and she had to go on. Andy hyperventilated and her muscles froze, prodding the officers to carry her off to a side and help her regain sensation in her numbing extremities. Alex was made to repeat saying “Sir, yes, Sir!” until he said it firmly enough. After, the teens broke into three teams to clean the house. Part of the survival skills were time management and cooking using available resources. The teens learned how to start a fire and cook their own simple food. Of course, they had to keep neat appearances, and one way of ensuring this was by having their boots well-shined. They also had to move quickly, and even their baths were done in double-time.

The Captain told Priscilla off for being lax. She was expected to cope, and no one was about to baby her. Too tired, Priscilla wanted out, not only of the military exercises, but of the PBB experience altogether. She approached Kuya to grant her exemption from physical activities, but Kuya reminded her that she cannot choose which tasks she wanted to participate in while the other housemates were working hard at it. Andy, too, was affected to the point of crying. She figured it was due to her still adjusting to the new environment, then the shock of rigid tasks.

The original House Player, Shy, chose to fall out of ranks. Kuya called her in the Confession Room to call her attention to her lack of respect for authority. Shy explained that she wanted out. Kuya urged her to see things through, explaining that it has only been a week and she needed to fully experience being inn the house. Shy was adamant: she wasn’t enjoying anymore and wanted to be in familiar surroundings with familiar people. In the end, Kuya accepts her voluntary exit and the rest of the housemates weren’t able to see her again.

Mican Ong, the new House Player ng Bayan, entered the house early this morning. His first task was to be seen preparing breakfast for them. He was one of the 30 teens, known only as My Big Love, who was given the key but didn’t make the final cut. Still, destiny led him inside. It’s a good thing that Andy had someone to help her accomplish the tasks, especially since Kuya wasn’t particularly impressed with her execution of her first. To guide her, Kuya gave specific instructions on how to be clumsy with Robi: spill coffee on his back, throw a drink in his face and step on hid big toe. Next task would be to make Ejay (winning 31.77% of the votes) happy. Up for decision would be to decide which housemate will wake up to multi-colored nail polish. Will it be Rona, Priscilla, Val or Alex? It’s your call, Kapamilya! Make sure you stay glued to updates because this week is the guardians’ last week in the house. Daily tandem tasks will be given to make the most of it, which started with last night’s pageant, and their stay will be capped with the Guardians’ Big Night on Sunday.

The housemates welcome Mikan while keeping up with their training

The housemates welcome Mikan while keeping up with their training
May 13, 2008 5:56 PM

This morning, new house player Mikan Ong entered Kuya’s house and cooked breakfast for the teens. Wearing a mask similar to Shy’s, he diligently prepared a hearty meal before any of the housemates stirred from bed. When everyone was up, he then gathered them around and revealed his identity. Some recognized him as part of the 30 dreamers in the first cut of auditions. However, with “My Big Love’s” appearance the original house player Shy went missing.

For a second, the teens thought they were saved from back breaking training today because of their guest. But, as if on cue, the Philippine Air Force officers marched in, banged on their doors and started screaming orders. The housemates all quickly dressed and fell in line. At the blow of the whistle, the teens dropped to the ground and performed floor exercises. Everyone had difficulty performing the routine and had to repeat it over and over again. Even when they executed it perfectly, the officers “rewarded” them with five more repetitions.

Among the other teens, Priscilla had the hardest time coping with the harshness of the officers and the difficulty of the drills. She complained of her sore muscles and aching body so Chief Commanding Officer Capt. Cecilia Bernabe advised her that the mind is superior and it should be placed over matter, over body and heart. She also added that the Differently-Abled Teen is only hearing impaired and her body is in full working good condition. But Priscilla also insisted that she’s affected by all the shouting. Capt. Bernabe explained that what they are doing are their jobs and they’ve got nothing personal against the teens.

Daily drills and rigorous work-outs aren’t the only things the teens have to do this week. The housemates were also expected to keep the house spic and span. Under the watchful eyes of the officers, the teens washed the dishes and swept the floor. Anyone caught not doing anything will be penalized with push-ups. After the chores, the teens were then taught how to tie different knots like the square kno and over-hand loop, which are crucial for survival training.

Is Mikan a replacement of the first house player? How would he challenge the housemate’s character? Will the teens be able to handle the pressure of training and bring with them the essentials of survival for their Island Adventure? Be updated on the teens’ activities by logging on to the PBB Multiply Site. Also get more details of Mikan’s entrance later on Uber!

You may vote online or text BB (name of housemate) and send it to 2331 (for Globe, Sun and TM subscribers) or 231 for (Smart and Talk N Text subscribers). On Primetime: For love of Moms

May 13, 2008 5:51 AM

For Mothers’ Day, the teens that still had their moms in the house – Alex, Beauty, Nikki and Nan – were up bright and early in time to wake their moms with breakfast in bed, a bouquet of flowers and a card. No eyes were left dry as their mothers read the letters their kids wrote them. The teens thanked their moms for opportunities given, sacrifices made, overflowing support, love and TLC. If the other three were used to their kids’ sweetness, Mommy Sandy’s surprise was evident at Nikki’s gesture. She was beaming as Nikki read her letter that opened doors for a renewed relationship between mother and daughter, a huge leap from their earlier interactions. As she later shared with Kuya, this was the first time Nikki truly opened up to her.

More surprises were in store for the moms, though. Kuya granted each teen a request, a gift for their moms. Alex approached Mommy Minda with a single red rose and sang her an OPM song. Mommy Sandy got 100 seconds with her youngest child, Zack. Beauty and Mommy Carina were tearfully grateful to have heard her dad’s voice as he delivered a testimony to Mommy Carina’s motherhood. Nan got Mommy My Love a visit from hubby Daddy Arnel. Despite the sad news that he’ll soon be off to sea, Mommy My Love had Nan crying as she assured him of her happiness at his efforts.

Meanwhile, something’s quite off with the lovebirds. Insecurity hit Ejay once again, and though Val urged him to be patient, he was already entertaining the thought of stopping his courtship of the Dazzling Doll. Best bud Nan advises him to enjoy things and not rush. Still in an emotional state, he tells Val that he felt she did not appreciate his efforts. As Aga’s character in the movie “When Love Begins” said, “Sometimes, I feel that you don’t care for me.” This had Valerie crying in frustration, because all the while she thought that Ejay understood her appreciation and interpreted her tears of joy correctly. Eventually, he shared his earlier thought of stopping his courtship, but decided that he couldn’t: he has to follow his heart. With a smile, Val agreed.

House Player Shy seemed to have managed to rock the boat of the Beauty-Alex tandem. Lately, Shy and Alex had been sharing tender moments, and though this was not unnatural for the Italian Valentino, Beauty couldn’t help but feel affected and betrayed. Alex noticed this immediately and set about trying to make amends, starting with wearing Beauty’s jacket, to no avail. He upped the ante by asking Kuya’s help to appease her, and to the melody of “If We Fall In Love”, Alex charms Beauty into a dance that rewarded him with their renewed bond.

House Player Andy has started on her task to be clumsy towards Robi, who was chosen by the people, with more than 50% of the text votes. For the next task, you get to choose who among these four housemates get to be made happy by the house players:a. Priscilla, b.Val, c. Alex ,and d. Ejay. Just text BBPOLL to 2366 for Globe, TM and Sun or 231 for Smart and Talk & Text subscribers.

In preparation for the big island adventure Kuya has in store for the teens, the 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Air Force, led by Capt. Cecilia Bernabe, was sent to give military training to the teens. Witness the rigid training and Andy’s hyperventilation tomorrow on Uber and Primetime Bida. Meanwhile, keep track of the going-on via official blogs and articles.

PBB Guardian of the Night

May 13, 2008 5:54 AM

After spit-shining and heating their military boots, the teens went on to more fun things. It was such a rainy day and the weather was perfect for a cozy get-together. Kuya had both households merge and have a pageant: the search for the PBB Guardian of the Night.

The guardians got their outfits out and their kids served as their stylists and make-up artists. Daddy Erning was quite easy to dress up, and Ejay fitted him with his best pink polo and coat. The mommies were quite a handful, though. Alex gamely helped Mommy Minda with her sheer evening dress and make up. Of all, Mommy Minda was the one who strutted and practiced her walk, prompting Mommy My Love to ask if she had been a model before. Another point of discussion were her super cool boots that all agreed was a more hip choice than her pumps. Mommy Carina was urged by Beauty to wear make-up as opposed to her classic look, and it did wonders to bring out her features. Mommy Sandy was a pretty picture in a pink dress, her hair fixed by Nikki. Nan was down on his knees as he tied Mommy My Love’s shoelaces as he fixed her up in jeans and a hoodie, her typical outfit, apparently. The girls would have none of it and insisted she change outfits. She emerged in a flowing tube dress and was truly blooming.

AsNikki, Alex, Ejay, Beauty and Nan were busy primping their parents, the rest were occupied with fixing the props and flow of the pageant. Rona and Priscilla exercised their hosting skills as they were the pageant hosts. Valerie and Andy served as judges, joined by Ms. Roberta Domingo (initially planned to be Roba Domanga), who was actually Robi in drag. He played his role to the hilt: full make-up, a tiara and a haltered mini-dress plus his careful covering of legs, a tearful wave, and a double-cheek beso to the guardians. So effective was he that he had the other boys have goose bumps over it and Daddy Erning shying away from his gentle strokes and besos.

The preliminary questions were silly ones, leaving a lot of room for free interpretation. For the talent portion, Daddy Erning played the guitar and sand “Ang Bayan Kong PIlipinas” and the classic “Anak”. Mommy Minda dedicated “All I See is You” to Alex’s dad, sung a capella. Mommy Carina and Mommy Sandy danced while Mommy My Love sang as well. After the final Q & A, the winners were announced, awarding the PBB Guardian of the Night to Mommy Minda. So excited was she that she hopped for joy at receiving the “crown” from the previous “queen”, Ms. Roberta Domingo. The pageant ended with everyone grooving along to the PBB theme song. To watch more of the pageant, catch it on Uber and Primetime Bida! Check out other updates in the official Multiply site and website.

The polls are already open so cast your votes for the housemate of your choice. Save Beauty, Nikki and Priscilla from eviction. Vote online or text BB (name of housemate) and send it to 2331 (for Globe, Sun and TM subscribers) or 231 for (Smart and Talk N Text subscribers). Andi plays ball

May 12, 2008 7:40 PM

Andi surprised the boys with her pro-like basketball moves which she learned from her father. The house player first faced off with Robi in a half-court game where the Atenean felt uneasy playing rough with a girl. But as Andi fired up her game, Robi decided to level up his skills. After the three minute one-on-one match, the Atenean scored six points against Andi’s four.

Nan was next to challenge Andi and the Junior Kenkoy used his speed to escape the house player’s strong defense. Will Andi steal this game from the boys? Catch Uber tomorrow for the results.

Meanwhile, latest evictee Josef and his Tita Anna shared their feelings about getting kicked out with Uber host Bianca. Despite his eviction, Josef felt happy to be reunited with his family, but he still has to clear things up with his girlfriend. The Lasallite also clarified that although he and Nicole became very close inside the house, he still treats the In-Chick as just a close friend–at least for now. Josef even wore the red jacket that Nicole gave to him to the interview.

Tita Anna advised her nephew to take things slow with Nicole and for the meantime, enjoy the life that’s ahead of him. She later revealed that she had already spoken with Daddy John and settled their issues.

vWelcoming Andy

May 12, 2008 12:22 AM

Compared to their reception to Shy, the teens were considerably lighter with Andy. Even after Kuya’s “revelation” that the two House Players were there to take the place of two of them, no antagonism was shown towards the newcomer. The boys, though curious, were welcoming. The girls already exchanged stories with her and even taught her their signature dance. This may be due to the fact that Shy introduced her, or because they have warmed up to the idea of sudden add-ons, or because of her sweet demeanor,  or even because she was a celebrity’s daughter — or maybe, this is just the calm before the storm. Andy was just settling in, but how will things be when she starts living up to the role of being House Player? Shy has set the bar high enough, with her smooth handling of their late entrance to the house and consistency. Andy certainly has a lot of catching up to do.

Fortunately, Shy has already made things a bit easier for her. Aside from giving her a tour of the house and orienting her with the basics, Shy also updated her on the teens. She advised Andy to keep talking with the housemates and give advice. The boys were her primary target, though Shy already started with Ejay. Apparently, Val was losing interest in the Promdi Hottie because of his kakulitan, which was in contrast to his quiet and shy personality in the beginning. Despite this, Ejay was still head over heels for the Dazzling Doll. Their story is definitely enough reason to be glued to the updates. Via blogs, headlines, or television’s Uber and Primetime Bida — take your pick!

Shy also reminded co-House Player to be patient, because there would be moments when it seemed the teens did not care for whatever it is that they say. The bond between the original housemates was quite strong, considering Shy and Andy’s late entrance, so she must be ready to deal with that possible hindrance. Shy even took care of explaining their identical nicknames – House Player – to the others. She explained that Andy played poker, and as a tandem, Shy was the dealer and Andy was the player. Beauty poses the same question to Andy later on, and she replied that this probably referred to their interests: Shy was a poker dealer and Andy was an athlete. Beauty just nodded and shifted the conversation to Andy’s mom, praising Ms. Jose’s acting prowess in MMK and Princess Sarah, among others. Here’s hoping Andy really does know how to play her cards right, and Shy continues to deal her with good ones. No folding, girls.

Nan called Shy’s slip-up when she introduced Andy, claiming that her “twin” has been in the house for the past week, too. She was just hidden, she said, and Shy would visit her regularly during her times in the Confession Room. Yet Shy already said she was “all in” yesterday, meaning that she no longer had secrets from the others. Shy smoothly solved the slip-up by saying that she was expecting Andy to be revealed the day before, thus her “all in” call. Robi and the other boys wonder about the newcomer, as the others only knew her as Jaclyn Jose’s daughter, and an upcoming actress. Robi was better acquainted, which explained his surprised look earlier. Andy was his batch mate, and a recent graduate of Miriam, Ateneo’s sister school. During one school event, Andy hosted and Robi was one of the contestants.

Andy has been busy introducing herself and gamely answered the questions of the housemates. She shyly admitted that she knew next to nothing about chores, and asked if they could help her out. The teens agreed and shared that Robi was the best in teaching them how to wash the dishes. Shy instantly stepped in and volunteered the boys’ help in teaching Andy, again giving co-House Player a boost in her task to be close to the boys.

Things seem to be looking up for Shy and Andy. The teens choose to stay happy and light, at least for the meantime. How will things change when both House Players go full blast in fulfilling their tasks? If Shy managed to rattle the housemates’ relationships on her first day, what issues will rise when Andy gives extra spice to the house? Watch out as things are sure to heat up! Check the blogs and articles, and don’t miss Uber and Primetime Bida!

Double eviction for this week and there are only three nominees. The polls are waiting for your votes for Nikki, Priscilla and Beauty. Vote online or text BB (name of housemate) and send it to 2331 (for Globe, Sun and TM subscribers) or 231 for (Smart and Talk N Text subscribers). Kuyanatics in UAE may also now vote by texting BB (name of housemate) and sending it to 4200 (for Etisalat subscribers). Also, don’t miss the Guardians’ Big Night this weekend!

On Primetime: Another plus is in the house!

May 11, 2008 10:25 PM

A quick recap of past events showed the unfortunate eviction of Josef from Kuya’s house. Nikki was in shock, and couldn’t stop crying, even as she was comforted by Mommy Sandy and the other housemates. Beauty and Alex were likewise affected, though with less drama. Beauty recalled how Josef took care of her and Alex reminisced the times when Josef would teach him Tagalog or spend time joking around and having "boys’ talk". Before the eviction, Rona gave out her shirts as souvenirs, and despite the tight fit, Alex and Ejay wore them at once. Nan, Alex and Robi wanted to give a tribute to Rona and prepared a song for her. Ejay, who wanted to join, did a mock audition before the group accepted him. Even Josef attempted to join in the fun. Roses were given by the boys to Rona and Nikki. Through Rona’s fave song –I’m Yours – Nikki and Josef got to share a dance.

On the other hand, if the teens had their weekly task balancing on a wobbly contraption, the guardians dressed up as clowns and juggled. Daddy Erning was a natural, and he even taught Mommy Sandy the basics. It was Tita Anna who emerged victorious, though, lasting 1 minute, 40 seconds.

It’s a week of good luck for Rona, as she won the Mothers’ Day prize earlier. After being declared winner of the task where they had to piece together a puzzle, Rona was blessed with 100 seconds with her mom, who she hasn’t seen since her graduation. Amidst tears, Rona reminded her mom to have a check-up and Mommy Rose reminded her to "makibagay, kahit hindi makisabay". Alas, a hundred seconds were too short, but mother and daughter definitely made every second count.

What do Nikki, Beauty and Priscilla have in common? All three girls have committed grave violations several times. According to the official rule book, housemates cannot communicate without being heard. This included mouthing of words and whispering, both of which were committed by the three girls when they were discussing Shy’s sleep talking. On top of this, they also asked Shy info on the outside world, another big no-no. Because of these, no nominations from the housemates were needed for this week’s set of nominees. There’s no way around it: Nikki, Beauty and Priscilla are automatically nominated.

The polls are now open, so go ahead and be first in casting your vote to save the housemate of your choice! Will it be Nikki, Beauty or Priscilla? Help them out by voting online or text BB (name of housemate) and send it to 2331 (for Globe, Sun and TM subscribers) or 231 for (Smart and Talk N Text subscribers). Kuyanatics in UAE may also now vote by texting BB (name of housemate) and sending it to 4200 (for Etisalat subscribers).

The housemates’ days are numbered. The end of the season is only a few weeks away. With this, Kuya adds another plus: Andy, the second House Player ng Bayan! What are the true feelings of the housemates? Who deserves to be this season’s Big Winner? Along with shy, Andy would help Shy expose the true nature of the housemates, particularly the boys. Shy was called into the Confession Room to strategize her entry to the house. After a few moments, Shy finally introduced Andy to the teens as her twin, someone who entered the house with her but was kept out of sight. The reason Shy kept on entering the Confession Room, she claimed, was to check up on her. The boys instantly recognized her as multi-awarded actress Jaclyn Jose’s daughter. In fact, her mom was present to send her into the house, along with the reminder to keep her cool and have fun. Robi, on the other hand, knew her because she studied in his alma mater’s sister school: Miriam.

The teens were all called into the Confession Room and were informed (misinformed, was more like it) that the two girls were the newest pluses and were there to take the place of two teens who will be evicted at the end of the week. House Players’ prize money was upped to P20,000 per task, and a lucky texter will have the chance to win half of the pot. The house players’ first task for the week is to be clumsy to a housemate and the identity of which shall be revealed tomorrow, so keep watch on Uber and Primetime Bida. Aside from the mock double eviction, this week is also the guardians’ last inside the house, so look forward to the Guardians’ Big Night this weekend!

Remembering Moms

May 11, 2008 3:22 PM

It’s Mother’s Day and the five teens whose moms weren’t present were at an all-time low. Valerie, Robi, Rona, Priscilla and Ejay were hoping to see their mothers and get to spend some time with them. However, Kuya would only award one of them with that privilege. In order to determine the lucky teen, the five would have to piece together a jigsaw puzzle of their mom’s profile. The fastest to do this would get to talk to their mom and spend 100 seconds with her.

When Kuya gave the go signal, the five rushed to find the missing pieces of their puzzle. They then went back to their bases and pieced together the profile of their mom’s. After a while, Rona jumped and hugged her housemates signaling that she finished first. Kuya however noticed that a piece was missing and not in tune with the whole picture. Priscilla had Rona’s missing piece and the Teen Debater had hers, placing the Differently-Abled Teen in second. Kuya left the decision to Shy, Nan, Nicole, Beauty and Alex. All pronounced Rona winner and the Positive Girl broke down in tears.

For the first time since the season started, True Blue Atenean Robi shed tears at the lost opportunity. He missed his mom terribly and he was expecting to spend this special day with her. Priscilla was also unhappy with the outcome of the game. When she emerged from the confession room after a brief talk with Kuya, she ran into the arms of pals, Rona and Beauty. She lamented the fact that she wasn’t given the chance to talk to her mom when she desperately wanted to. Though she was inside the house, she wanted to show Mommy Jinky that she made an effort for her. She was very grateful for her mother, who in spite of being a single mom, was able to bring her up and her two other siblings.  Valerie on the other hand expressed her disappointment but didn’t talk about it. The Promdie Hottie masked his sadness and diverted the conversation to the profile he pieced together. Apparently, the picture he pieced wasn’t his mother’s but Josef’s. Everyone humorously laughed at this and the gloominess of the housemates was lifted.

Rona still felt uneasy that she would be spending 100 seconds with her mom and the other four weren’t. She then decided to split her 100 seconds for the others to receive the same privilege she had. However, she has yet to bring this matter up to Kuya. Would Kuya agree to this proposal? Or is he preparing a much better plan for the housemates and a tribute for their moms? Nomination night is just around the corner! Who would this week’s nominees be? Find out on Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus and check out the PBB Multiply Site for fresh updates on the teens!
