The Promdie Hottie

At first glance, Ejay doesn’t look the typical promdi for he moves in a smooth and urbane manner. But as one gets to know him, the truth about his hometown begins to show, not that he tries to hide it. This shy lad from Oriental Mindoro speaks with straight and clear Tagalog, with a taint of Mindorenyo and a Visayan accent. Ejay grew up in the island of Pola where there is a scarcity of water and electricity, and watching TV Patrol and primetime teleseryes from the community TV, the only form of entertainment for the residents. Despite his timid ways acquired from his rural origins and strict Christian upbringing, Ejay is courageous and determined, ready to take on anything just to free his family from the poverty that ruined his parents’s marriage. He dreams big for his family that even if he is granted one wish, he’d not ask for fame but for his family to be together again. He is hopeful that Pinoy Big Brother is the first big step to realizing this dream.

PBB Updates : The housemates are successful in reading Priscilla’s lips!

The housemates are successful in reading Priscilla’s lips!
March 25, 2008 7:50 PM

Many of the housemates are amazed on how Priscilla is able to cope with her disability so in this afternoon’s episode of Uber, Big Brother came up with this superb plan of letting the housemates know and understand Priscilla more by learning what she goes through every time they talk to her.

This afternoon, Big Brother asked Priscilla to write a poem in honor of her deceased father’s birthday. She then had to read the poem to the housemates from the confession room. However, this wasn’t just a simple presentation but the others must understand the poem by doing what Priscilla does everyday to communicate with people, that is by lip-reading. Priscilla has to read thirteen lines of the poem and each should be interpreted by a housemate. Priscilla could only read the line twice though and a series of groans soon came from the housemates in the living room. Josef mustered up enough courage to ask Big Brother whether the poem was in English or Tagalog but the big man of the house did not give them clues since they have to go through the same thing Priscilla does.

First in line to lip-read was Nan, who fidgeted and squinted at Priscilla but ended up still completely clueless. Rona was next and she was able to guess it after a few tries. Robi missed three words of the third line while Beauty got everything in one try. The housemates soon eventually helped each other solving their assigned lines.

In the end, most of them were able to figure it out and they were declared successful by Big Brother. Priscilla was in tears while reading the entire poem and later shared in the sweet victory of her fellow housemates. Get more updates on this activity tomorrow on Uber. Tune in to PBB Teen Edition Plus primetime tonight right after Lobo for more stories about the housemates’s first day day inside the house.

PBB : On Primetime: The First Violation and A Diva Moment

Another day goes by with the housemates warming up to each other, starting with a game that had them sharing anecdotes about themselves. During the game, Kuya was very much involved and showed his teasing side as he kept on asking the pronounced BBF’s detailed information about each other. So far, Robi and Josef have already shown the others their trademark handshake and have danced to the tune of Soulja Boy’s Crank That. They even had on identical shirts.

It was also during the game that Kuya announced the housemates’ first violation. Some were whispering, a big don’t in the PBB house and until someone owns up, no baths for all of them. This had the teens rattled for a bit as they tried to figure out whether or not they were at fault. Finally, Josef and Alex owned up, and as their punishment, they have to talk loudly until further notice. Robi, living up to being the BBF of Josef, asked permission to share in the latter’s punishment. He was then made to echo everything Josef said. Not long after that, Josef, Alex, and Kevin were called into the confession room again. Josef was in because he whispered yet again while the other two were reprimanded because they didn’t inform the others that the BBFs will share their stories with everyone in the living room. For their punishment, Alex and Kevin needed to learn 500 new Filipino words. They in turn will teach Josef 500 Italian words and 500 Spanish words. It was while Alex was reciting his new vocab that it slipped that he was "supot" or uncircumcised, it not being the culture in Italy.

Priscilla was the other housemate who received a number of tasks: to teach Beauty how to lip-read and to sing an OPM song that Valerie can also sing. Despite being raised in Germany, Valerie loves to sing Pinoy songs and it probably won’t be long before they add Jukebox Queen to her title. Priscilla, though differently-abled, can hear faint tones and was able to learn the song quickly. The two perform a duet for Kuya and the housemates. Though quite insecure about her singing abilities, Priscilla shared that for a moment, she felt like a diva.

The evening had the boys practicing dance steps while the girls exchanged stories about their dads. Jieriel shed off her bubbly demeanor as she shared her sad experience with her biological dad. Rona was moved to tears when she shared her feelings about her imprisoned father. Through it all, she remains strong in believing that God will make things right.

What other tasks are in store for the housemates? What other revelations will Kuya unearth?

PBB : Secret Plans and "Boy Talk"

Jieriel acts quite the P.I (Private Investigator) as she corners Josef into telling her the story behind a certain photograph. In the said photo, Robi and Josef are with some girls. The boys are reluctant to divulge information. To Jieriel, it gives more reason to think that there’s more to their claim of being BBFs than meets the eye. She insists that Josef open up to her, even going to the extent of saying that Robi already did, even though the Atenista hasn’t really talked to her. Robi, on the other hand, was cornered by Linda. He gave more info than Josef, but still kept everything on the safe side. Being the smooth talker, he soon turned around the conversation, putting Linda in the hot seat as he questioned her about the friend she visited before going inside the house. Later, Josef and Robi finally meet up to get their story straight. Though Alex joined them in mid-conversation, it didn’t matter much since he didn’t understand what they were talking about anyway.

Earlier, the girls were tasked to put make-up on the boys and after the boys were made to choreograph a dance. After a bit, Josef called the boys into their room for a little boys’s talk. Alex, having admitted that he was uncircumcised, wanted to have his coming-of-age ritual done asap. His elder brothers had their circumcision done in the Philippines when they were 18, and since he was already at the same age, he wanted to have it done as well. The other boys try to help him out by relaying their own experiences with the classic tuli. They express concern over his having it done while in the house, especially with girls around and unknown tasks to be performed. The evening ends with the housemates monkeying around with their "happy pupu" inside joke, a chess game between Nan and Nikki, and a pseudo robot battle between Josef and Alex.

What is the "happy pupu" joke? What story did the BBFs come up with?

Boys will be… GIRLS??

Forever the bubbly girl, Jieriel is the life of any party. She loves to laugh with people and have fun. She alternates between dreaming to be a fairy and being Superwoman in the same way that she balances childhood and adolescence. She is optimistic about forging relationships with the other housemates, flexible and eager to get to know those around her. Her strong personality allows her to surpass the initial awkwardness and makes her take that first step. This sense of security and sense of self can be credited to her father Gerry, who took care of her while her mom was working in the Middle East as a nurse. A Papa’s Girl, she disregards the fact that he isn’t her biological father, proving that familial bonds are indeed not limited to genetics. Jieriel’s good nature is expected to bring cheer to her teen housemates, yet will she be able to keep her good nature when her Papa is not around to boost her spirits?

Junior Kengkoy

Nan is the happy boy who seemingly refuses to grow old. This happy-go-lucky outlook comes with a lot of downsides, though. His normal day would mean lazy time in school, hanging out with friends and playing billiards in their small town billiard hall. At home he wouldn’t lift a finger; in fact he barely knows any household chore. Being the eldest in the family, he is expected to help his mother especially during these times that his seaman father is aboard the ship working out of the country. However, to get Nan to work, his mother would either hit him with a slipper or chase him until he runs out of the house.

What Nan lacks in doing household chores and getting good grades, he makes up with care and affection for his family. Nan hopes to follow the footsteps of his father and become a seaman someday. Entering PBB is a step towards reaching that dream. Nan would like to be positive about the other housemates, banking on his being friendly. He anticipates the chaos and disorder, though, chalking it up to being teens and as such, “maraming trip”. How will Junior Kengkoy fair in the yellow house? Will he try the patience of the other housemates and Kuya? Or, will he emerge a man better equipped to reach his big dream?

PBB Teen Edition Plus : ROBI

The image “http://teensplus.pinoybigbrother.com/Portals/6/profiles/Robi03w.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

The True Blue Atenean

Being a housemate, Robi has to forego his high school graduation – and the chance to receive his award for excellence personally. Living up to being a man for others, though, he considers the chance to be a housemate a worthy compromise, not because it may be a claim to fame but as an opportunity to be a good influence to others.Aiming high, he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in medicine. A member of the baseball varsity and the honor roll as well, it seems all is set for Robi. One thing he can’t seem to get the hang of, unfortunately, is his love life. He got dumped both times he tried courting a girl, though he’s really persistent in pursuing the second. Too bad they don’t teach Courtship (Anti-torpe) 101 in high school.

As he enters the PBB house, Robi has very positive thoughts on today’s youth. He perceives them to be well-rounded individuals, versatile and willing to try out a variety of things. He carries the same attitude towards his housemates, believing the best of them as he looks forward to hanging out with them despite the varied interests. Having the Atenean school spirit, will he still be able to think the same way when he lives in close quarters with someone from a rival school? Is he truly the good trophy boy that he seems to be? Will Kuya teach a summer course on courtship inside the yellow house? And will he have a summer love to boot?
